Dr. Elizabeth Penashue (Tshaukuesh)
Honoring Our Leader & Elders
A lifelong advocate for Innu culture and the environment, Dr Elizabeth Penashue has led major campaigns against NATO low-level flying, guided cultural walks, and preserved Innu traditions through her diaries, published as Nitinikiau Innusi: I Keep the Land Alive.
Her work has earned her numerous honours, including a National Aboriginal Achievement Award and honorary doctorate. Deeply connected to the land, she continues to protect the animals, trees, children, and all that exists within the circle of life.
